This can be done as a project, or as a finished set to spell out your babies name or initials. A nice personal touch for any nursery.

If you do decide to make your wood letters to hang as a project, then after buying the blank wood letters which can be purchased at Wal-Mart, and just about any craft store like Michaels and Hobby Lobby, you will want to first sand all the edges so they are nice and smooth, and also so the paint will easily adhere to the wood.

The next step after deciding the colors you want to paint your letters is to have stencils if you want to make a perfect decoration. If you want to go freestyle with it then you may want to add other decorations such as an acid-free pen or embellishment tags to add in order to put the meaning of the your babies name or a small caption and description.

If you plan on getting more detailed you can put a piece of paper or carboard over the letter and then trace it. After doing so you will want to cut each letter out with a scissors and add mod podge to the back as an adhesive to the wood. Then you can proceed to use chalk, crayons, or brushes to add color to the paper instead of the wood.

Ribbons and other pieces for decoration also could be added after painting the letters. Regardless of how you do it, its all about adding your personal touch and being creative with crafts.
