Window Cleaning Tips

window cleaningThe first of the window cleaning tips we can give you right off the bat, and this tip goes for most Do It Yourself projects talked about here on in home projects, is have the right tools for the job. For clear, clean, streak free windows you should really use the professional grade squeegees, soap, and applicators. If you dont, you still may be able to achieve streak free windows, but it is a lot harder to do so.

Use plenty of water. The access amount of water you use, should carry dirt and debri with it as it runs down and off the glass.

A lambs wool applicator or a sponge will leave dirt and resedue behind if it is not cleaned regularly. Make sure to rinse them and ringe them out frequently.

Never wash windows in direct sunlight. Just like when washing a car in the sun, it will super heat the glass causing the water and soap to dry too fast leaving streaks everytime.

When using a squeegee, it is important to hold it at the correct angle, so that thhe water runs down the glass. You dont want water coming off both ends of the squeegee, only the end pointed towards the ground.

Now that you are holding the squeegee at the correct angle, you must wipe it dry after each stroke. Using a wet squeegee will leave a blade mark.

Always overlap your squeegee strokes. Do not be stingy here, overlap by a few inches, ensuring that you do not leave a line from the previous stroke.

When you are done with the squeegee, it will always leave marks on the edges of the glass where you could not get the squeegee. Use a lint free cloth to wipe the edges of your window.

These tips are the basics, and take practice to perfect. Remember practice makes perfect, so stay with it and you will get the job done.
