Another simple way that you can cut down on the amount of water used, is to install low pressure flow shower heads and Faucets. It will amaze you how much water and average family of four uses each week. It is estimated that your average family of four each showers for only five minutes a day uses over 700 gallons of water per week. So obviously, you can see the benefits of switching to a low flow shower head and sink faucets.
What are some of your options besides the traditional water heater? There are many water heating systems available today on the market that can help save your monthly utility bills. Some of these systems only heat water as you need it. The hot-water on-demand systems can save you money in the long run, however you usually have to pay quite a bit of money up front to purchase them.
There are also solar water heating systems, tankless water heating systems, and preheating water systems. Preheating water systems, use the heat from the sun to preheat water before it enters into your water heater. This keeps your water heater from having to heat the water completely on its own, and the heat from the sun is totally free.
