Wallpaper Removal

ugly wallpaperAre you tired of those old nasty walls with bubbles in them. It is likely that you have wallpaper that has been up for over a decade, and is ready to be removed. Wallpaper removal is not as hard as you think. It can be tedious, but if done correctly will save you a lot of time.

The paste that holds the wallpaper to the wall is generally the firs thing that needs to loosen up before we can begin scraping or pulling off paper.

First get a bucket of warm water. Add a little bit of dish soap to it, or if you have some add some spic and span to the bucket. This combination will help to start the process of removing wallpaper.

It is a good idea to spread the soapy water with a sponge or a misting bottle over a great area of wallpaper. This will cause the wallpaper to bubble up more which is what you want.

The next thing you need is some sort of scraper to take the wallpaper off. begin at a corner and try to scrape down and into the wallpaper where the glue and wall make contact. If it seems difficult at first you may need to add some more mist or dampened sponge to the wall further. make sure that the water is warm, and empty cold water to replace it back with the warm again.

As you continue this process and are able to start scraping off the wallpaper, it should peel very easily at points where the water and solution have worked the glue out. This can be time consuming, so try to be patient with it. it can be easier many times as you are scraping under the wallpaper to pull gently on the end of the wallpaper which can give nice results of huge pieces coming off quickly.

Continue this process untill all wallpaper is removed, and remember to clear any surface of glue still remaining on the wall. Do not start painting if the wall is damp. Put a fan on it when you are done and let it dry out.
