Tiled Showers
Are you tired of your one-piece fiberglass shower tub surround? What about the 1980s faux marble wall that surrounds your bathtub, or is even the decking surrounding your Jacuzzi tub? Why not go with a unique look of a tiled shower? Tiled showers have a look of their own, and can be customized beyond belief. Whether you are wanting just to tile your shower floor, or tile the shower walls around your bathtub, you just cannot beat the look of tiled showers.
There are many different variations and combination’s of tiles that you can combine to give your home and bathroom a unique look. Tiling a shower is not necessarily a hard job, but a little experience or hiring a professional tile installer may be the way to go. A tiled shower will definitely help tie in the theme of your house into your bathroom by getting away from the bland look of a one-piece plastic, or fiberglass bathtub surround.
It is easy to tie your bathroom vanity in with the look of your tiled shower if you use either a similar tile or the same tile you used when having your shower tiled. Whether you choose to use a ceramic tile in your shower, porcelain tile in your shower, Saltillo tile in your shower, granite shower tile or marble shower tile, chances are you will have a unique look that not many other people have.
A shower ceramic tile is light weight, and cuts quite easily if you have never installed shower tile before. Remember that a ceramic tile will have a red clay base, so any cuts you make you want to make sure that they face in words so that grout will cover them. If they face outward, and are not covered by grout you will see the red clay underneath the glazed finish.
The most important part of installing shower tiles, is your starting point. Make sure that your first row of tile is level and square, because this is the basin which the rest of your shower wall tiles will go off of. It only takes one on square line to make the rest of the shower look off-center, on level, and on square.
