Once a bag is turned into the recycled, they can be made into things such as lumber, trashcan liners, and other types of plastic bags.

Before you can attempt to recycle plastic grocery bags, is a good idea to find out who and where it accepts plastic grocery bags to recycle. If your local curbside recycling company or program does not accept plastic grocery bags, is a good idea to drop them off yourself. You will need to drop off only type II and type for grocery bags at your local grocery store. Most grocery stores accept plastic bags, and that will have designated recycling bins for them.

When recycling plastic bags, you want to exclude any bags that are dark in color, Handles or drawstrings. Plastic food wrapping like Saran wrap, is also nonrecyclable.

Before you drop off any bags to be recycled, is a good idea to clean and dry the plastic bags thoroughly making sure they are free of any dirt or debris. This step is actually quite important, because foreign objects will contaminate the plastic as it is being recycled.

If for some reason your local grocery store does not accept plastic bags to recycle them, and are curbside recycling program does not accept them either, it is a good idea to look in the Yellow Pages under the term recycling to find someone locally in your area who can help you out. This small step of recycling plastic bags is a huge step in helping our environment.
