Painting Over Wallpaper
Many people believe that painting over wallpaper is a big no-no, and should not be done under any circumstances. However, painting over wallpaper can be done easily, effectively, and have long-lasting effects when it is done correctly.
Of course you would not want to paint over raggedy old wallpaper that is peeling off the walls, or has many tears in it. So before you attempt to paint over wallpaper in your home, you should examine it first to make sure that it is a suitable palette for you to paint over. Old wallpaper, may not be in perfect condition, but still may be suitable for paint. Before we jump right into painting wallpaper, let’s discuss the simple and effective tools that you will need to get the job done correctly.
1. A stain killing primer paint
2. Interior wall paint you desire to color the room
3. A paint roller
4. Find every paper or board
5. Strong glue
In order to prepare the wallpaper for painting over it, you need to secure any corners or seams that may be loose. Remember if your wallpaper has many holes, or peeling patches they cannot be painted over successfully. If it is only this seems or the callers are loose, you can securely read fasten them with glue.
After you have repaired any peeling edges or seams, apply two coats of stain killing primer over the wallpaper in which you wish to paint.
After the primer has dried, if you can still see wallpaper seams, take me find every paper and lightly sand it seams smooth.
Finally, you can apply the top coat of interior paint. The paint should hold up at last a long time, and you do not have to tear down on the old wallpaper.
