Kitchen Island Bar Space Saver

kitchen islandA kitchen island bar can be a great way to pack away some of the extras in your kitchen. If you already have a sizable kitchen then it is a good idea to consider strategically adding an island to the middle or in a surrounding area that doesn’t block the free flow of family and friends walking by each other while preparing a meal. Adding a kitchen island bar is a cheap way to get a little modern kitchen remodeling done without all the headaches and dust.

If your kitchen is a decent size but the counter space is short of what you would like, then adding a kitchen bar can allow you to have the area needed for cutting and preparing meat or vegetables.

There are multiple options you could go with, and finding the right size island is important so the kitchen doesn’t feel too bulky at the same time.

Also you may want to decide if the island will be fixed or if your kitchen island will be mobile. Adding wheels to an existing island can be simple with a few power tools, and this is often a favorite because of the ability to move the island when you have more than the usual guests over or if the kitchen space is needed for an additional table. Another simple upgrade to your kitchen island is to match the cabinet doors with the existing cabinet doors in your kitchen. Replacement cabinet doors can be purchased for as little as 30 dollars and can go way up in price depending on the style, size and type of wood.

Make sure when purchasing an island if you are planning on using it for an additional cutting table that it has a very solid finish and protectant seal so that knives do not cause heavy damage to the wood grain.

So if that extra space isn’t taken in the center of your kitchen, then why not make an island out of it and create more storage space.
