Installing An Attic Ladder
Attic ladders can make some people scared, especially when they feel and sound like they are not safe. Having an attic ladder in a proper and accessible place is definitely important for any home owner. Why even have an attic ladder if its in an area with limited space, or even over an area that can easily get damaged.
I’m sure you would agree that if your attic is in a place that’s easily accessible and non cluttered that its a great way to get those unused things out of the way. Here are a few tips that will help you when installing an attic ladder or choosing an attic ladder for your home.
- First as was already mentioned, try to find an area that is well accessible. A garage can be a good area if there is enough space to get into the attic from there unless you are already using the garage for storage.
- Make sure wherever you decide to install a new attic opening that there is enough area for plywood to be layed down in order to stack boxes and other unused things on.
- Make sure that the area you are installing the ladder is free from nails which are overhead. If they are there, you may want to use a hammer to bend them slightly if possible. If there are too many nails, do not mess with them as this might weaken what they are being used to secure.
- Think about whether the accessibility of the ladder will obstruct other things in the home or could potentially cause an injury to an unknowing person walking into a room. If it poses a serious hazard you may want to reconsider where you are adding it.
If you follow these simple tips for installing your attic ladder this will ensure that things go a lot smoother, and that you make the most out of your storage spaces within the home.
