How to Paint Straight Lines On Walls

painting straight linesPainting straight lines is not as hard as you might think. While having a steady hand can help, you can still be a little bit messy. So when painting your home you might be asking, how do I paint straight lines on walls and not get paint on another section that uses another color?

The following simple steps will show you. Here’s how its done!

First of all make sure that you haven’t already attempted to paint up to the edges of a wall, and begin to do this process with wet paint or you may really have a mess.

The first thing you will want to do is get some painters tape which does not have such a heavy adhesive that it will rip other dry paint off the wall.

Next unroll about a foot or so of tape, leaving it on the spool. While holding one end with one hand, and the spool with the other pull from both sides so that the tape is taught. Then put the edge of the tape you are holding down at one corner where the two walls meet. The tape will go on the wall which you are not painting.

While holding the tape tight next bring the spool side down upon the other edge of the wall. You should have close to a straight line now with the tape. All you have to do is tear the tape at the spool and push down on the adhesive from one edge all the way to the other so the whole piece of tape is nice and stuck to the corner of the wall.

Continue to overlap on the previous piece of tape you already lay down until the whole edge around your wall is protected. Now you are ready for painting.

the next thing you will want to do is paint the inside of the walls before using a brush around the edge. Once you have filled in the whole interior with a roller or a brush then you can proceed to paint the edges around the wall. And since the tape is protecting you from uneven lines you have very little to worry about.

Next you will want to remove the tape off of each edge you complete. You do not want the paint to dry before removing it otherwise you may have dry paint coming off with the tape.

once you pull off the tape you should have straight lines all around your wall just like a pro!
