How To Clean A Dishwasher

The first thing you will want to do is check the preset temperature on your dishwasher. Most dishwashers require the water to be heated to between 120 and 140 degrees. Measure the temperature before the washing cycle begins.

If you want to go the manual hand against surface method, then you can get some stainless steel wipes which can cover the nasty grime and build up. If you want to go with method be then go ahead and take a look at the type of build up you have. This could be scale, food stains, rust, mold, or discoloration.

Make sure the dishwasher is empty, then add one table spoon of bleach and begin the cycle. this should remove any mold and will also make things look fresh and new, unless you have some tough scale build up, in which case you go to the next step.

While it may seem odd, get about 1/4 a container of Orange Tang drink mix, and add it to the dishwasher reservoir. The citric acid from the Tang will help to remove hard water deposits from the dishwasher a well as scale.

But the best solution is to use vinegar to clean a dishwasher. You can add about 2 cups of vinegar to the washing rack and run a full cycle. This will clean about everything you can imagine in the dishwasher, and restore it to almost new or at least close to it.
