Designing a home theater room, can be the most exciting room to design in your entire home. A home theater room, is a place that you and your family and friends can gather round to enjoy each other’s company and watch a good flick.
Having a room and calling it a theater room or a media room takes more than just a room. The layout of your theater seating, your speakers, and your screenplay in a poor role in designing the best possible home theater room experience.
Also you do not want to have an echo sounding room, you want a room that is going to deal well with the acoustics of your speakers, while giving you a comfortable feel at the same time. Just like many real theaters have carpeting on the walls, if you can afford to do this in your home and your personal theater room, your movie experience will be that much better.
Having the proper amount of lighting is important as well, especially if you have a home projection theater system. Too much lighting will cause your picture to be too dull, yet not enough lighting and it’s hard to find your way around while the movie is going. Accent lighting is a great way to offset the amount of lighting you need before, after, and during the movie.
Bigger is not always better. Choosing a screen that is too big for your media room, will only give you a headache. If you have a small room, do not overcompensate with a huge screen. At the same time, if your room is large, it is best to have a larger screen, after all it is a home theater.
Speaker placement is also vital in making sure that your movie experience is just like that of a real theater. Making sure that all speakers are placed properly, and pointed to where they need to be pointed.
Seating needs to be comfortable, yet you need to be able to effectively set as many people as possible in your designated space. There are theater seats available to purchase, however they tend to take up more room than needed. Using a couch, or recliners is okay, it is just important that the people who sit behind one another can see above the people in front of them.
