Hanging Pegboard

The board can be custom rearranged, and rearranged as many times as you need to fit specific tools and which you want to hang from it. On the most common mistakes that people make when hanging pegboard, is that they do not allow space between the peg board and wall.

Just like when hanging a cabinet or shelving, it is very important that you find the studs that are hidden behind the drywall. Using a stud finder will make quick work of locating the studs. If you are not able to find the studs in the wall, it is important that you use proper anchor bolts, or toggle bolts to support the weight that will be on your pegboard.

Once you have located the studs in the wall, use a level to draw a horizontal level I’m on the wall that will serve as a guide to where you will be hanging the pegboard. Using viewed line you just drew as guide, cut a 1×2 piece piece of lumber to the correct link that you will be making the pegboard. Using wood screws, screw the one by two piece of lumber into the walls.

After you have hanged me 1×2 horizontally, and level, you will then pay one bytes used vertically and then another 1×2 horizontally at the bottom of where the pegboard will hang. Essentially what you’re doing here is you were creating a framework for the pegboard. However you are not outlining the pegboard, instead you were staying to the inner edges of the pegboard.

Once you have completed the hanging your framework for the peg board. It is now time to mount the pegboard to the framework. Make sure to cut the pegboard to the correct size you need, then simply screw the four corners of the pegboard to your framework. It is a good idea to install screws every 8 to 10 inches apart all the way around your pegboard, this will ensure that it is strong and will hold any weight that you may hang from it. Congratulations, you’re done.
