Whether you use your dishwasher all the time, or just once a month, the chances are, at some point it will need cleaning. Many people assume that because you can’t necessarily see the dirt inside a dishwasher that it does not need cleaning, but the truth is if left un cared for it can cause problems, and be potentially dangerous if your plates and bowls are not being cleaned properly. To safely dismantle a dishwasher follow the steps below. If you are unsure of any points always ask a friend or relative if you can.

You need to start by disconnecting your dishwasher from the mains, or if is directly connected, cut it off directly from your circuit breaker. If you do not disconnect it not only is there a large danger of electrocution, but you also run the risk of damaging the dishwasher.

Take the bottom storage rack out of your dishwasher. Some people like to take out the top rack as well to give them extra space to work in, but it is not needed to clean the dishwasher.

Usually the spray arm will be screwed on. If it is screwed on then unscrew it and it should promptly come out of place. If it is not screwed on, push it gently from side to side until it becomes loose. If it has no screws and pushing it from side to side does not appear to work, read your dishwasher manual rather than trying to force it, as you may end up breaking it.

Carefully remove the screen from below the spray arm. Removing this will grant you access into the main drainage system of the dishwasher.

Locate the pump housing, and remove this. This can be held on by many things, but it is usually screwed on so just use your screwdriver again to unscrew that. If there are no screws again consult your dishwasher manual or call the manufacturer to find out the exact details.

Remove all the internal parts you can see, including the upper impeller alongside with the food dispenser blade like piece. Anything else which can be taken out would be beneficial. Once you have taken all the parts out, prepare a solution in your sink, made from warm water and a little washing detergent. Leave them all to soak and then rinse the parts off. After taking them out of the solution and drying them, examine the parts for any old or worn parts. If you see any, try and get them replaced as soon as possible, as they could be affecting the cleaning performance by the dishwasher.

Rinse all the parts in cold water and dry them. Replace all the parts back into the machine, taking care to make sure you screw all the parts back firmly in to place.

If you notice a rattling noise after the cleaning, open the dishwasher back up and check that everything is screwed in correctly.

The kitchen is an important part in any house. The kitchen is where food is made and prepared, dirty wear is washed and cleaned, and where people like to relax in the morning with a cup of coffee. It goes without saying that a kitchen sink is an essential, and without want your kitchen life would be very limited. These days many people are choosing to replace their old sinks with new ones, often to make the place look more modern and stylish.

The problem is, a sink can cost you a lot to install if you hire a plumber to do the work, and can cost more than the sink itself! For this reason, many people are starting to install their own kitchen sinks. This is great, but if not done correctly can lead to a lot of problems later down the line which could potentially cost you a fortune. Below are the steps required to successfully install your very own kitchen sink.

First of all you need to think through all the logistics. Make sure you have enough money to buy the sink and any additional tools you may need. You then need to think about sizes and measurements. Many sink manufactures provide a free template of the size of the sink, so you can see whether it will fit or not. Once you have decided the sink in question will fit into your kitchen, you are ready to move to the next step.

Stencil round the template of the sink, and proceed to drill a 3/8-inch-diameter hole in each corner. Use a saber saw and start cutting from one hole to the other. Be careful, you need to stay exactly on the line. Take your time when using the saw and don’t rush it, or you could cause yourself problems later on. Once you have drilled all the way around the surface many fall through. If it doesn’t simply push it out. You now have your sink space ready.

Put the sink upside down, and install the sink faucet (tap) as well as the sink strainers. It is much better to do this whilst the sink is out in the open as you have a lot more access to put the parts into place. Proceed to line the lip on the underside of the sink with plumbers putty to create a watertight seal for when the sink is in place.

Take great care, and flip the sink over and place it into the hole you made earlier. The sink should fit straight into place; if not then you may need to drill the hole a tiny bit bigger. Be careful when lifting the sink, and if possible try and get someone else to help you with the burden.

The sink should come with mounting clips that keep the sink in place. Fit these whilst following the manufacturer’s instructions and your sink will now be firmly in place. Now all you need to do is simply connect the P trap, which carries the water to the faucet from the pipes. Run the water for a few minutes to check all is working, and take a step back and admire your handy work, you have no installed your very own sink!

If you are in the market for purchasing a new sink you may want to check out the sink review website to read up on pedestal sinks and other stylish models for bathroom, kitchen and spots in the house that could use the accent of a sink.

It used to be that most people would consider a game room, to be just a room for air hockey, pool tables and other billiards for the whole family. With the advancement in technology of video gaming, online gaming has become a huge part of kids as well as some adults entertainment and relaxation period.

The Wii console has brought many families back to a traditional style of enjoying entertainment together. Many consoles have multiple ports to allow up to 8 players, and if you have a family which includes kids, they are certain to invite their friends over for some long gaming sessions on Call Of Duty or Halo which are just a few popular multiplayer games. With that in mind your plans to build a game room will depend much on your families habits and friends who come over to the house. Below are a handful of ideas you may want to pick up on before getting fully engrossed in customizing your game room.

Food
You know well that most kids get the munchies when playing games. For this reason you may consider adding a mini refrigerator to the game room for refreshments and cold foods. A bar with cabinets for dry goods as well can come in handy. Since this will be an area that a lot of company is invited too on most occasions, having tile instead of carpet will prove to be easier to take care of and upkeep.

Furniture
Having furniture which lasts as well as comfortable for long periods of sitting can prove itself invaluable. If you are looking for a way to give the video game room more of that game room feel then you may want to add barstools. There are also special gaming chairs which can be added when other kids are visiting your home. These can be found at Walmart for around $40, and can be an inexpensive way to offer seating to younger guests.

Bathroom
You may not have thought of this for a gaming room, but with so much company, having a restroom in a gaming room keeps a lot of people from tracking through other areas of the house. This would be most practical in homes where the choice for the video gaming room is in the basement.

Lighting
Most serious gamers are not big fans of heavy lights, so small recessed ceiling lights may prove to be a great option. Window coverings that keep out sunlight also should be within the budget, if you plan on having a room that can get dark in the heat of the day.

There are many more aspects of a video game room that can be covered, but this should get you started on the right track to building the ultimate video game room for your family.

Using exterior lighting can add a lot of characteristics to your house. Whether it be lighting up a pathway leading to the front door, or a hanging lamp next to the porch, an exterior lighting fixture can not only make your home look warm and inviting, but also show people where to head in the darkness. Below are listed some various types of exterior lighting fixtures, and the types of places people tend to place them.

Lantern lights are often inspired from the streetlight of Victorian times, and give great texture to your property. They can either be hanging or free standing, and either way can act as a convenient way to light up your porch, or the beginning of your driveway. Easy to set up and get going yourself, these types of lights can vary in price. For a hanging lantern you should be expecting to pay around $200 for a good quality one, whereas with a free standing one, you could pay anything from $300 up to $1500, depending on what material is used and the overall quality.

Outdoor ceiling lights are one of the most common types of exterior lighting, and usually sit on the ceiling of your porch. They provide valuable light when entering the house at night, particularly useful for finding your keys and inserting them into the lock. The lights can come using a switch mechanism, or more usefully a motion sensor, so that the light will switch on automatically as soon as it detects movement. These types of lights may be harder to install, depending on whether you are able to drill through the ceiling yourself. Expect to pay between $100 and $300 for an exterior ceiling lighting fixture.

Exterior wall lighting fixtures are also a popular style in exterior lighting, as they are reliable, cheap and available in a variety of different types. If your house is modern, there are lights to fit in with that style, just as if your house is old fashioned, there are lights designed to fit in well with that. They are readily available and are easy to fit providing a basic level of electrical knowledge is known. Exterior wall lights should be available from your local hardware store, or even better if you are luck enough to have a lighting specialist nearby take a trip down to them.

Pedestal lights are a type of light usually situated on the ground or on a wall. They are often used to light up pathways or the edges of gardens, and can be particularity effective when used in conjunction with other pedestals to create a sophisticated and stylish look. These types of exterior lights may need professional help to install, as they sometimes require cables to be laid underground, depending on the type of light and the amount you have in the garden. Prices vary from around $50 up to $300 per pedestal largely depending on the design.

There are many types of exterior lighting fixtures, and you need to look around to see what suits you best before making any decisions, but always keep prices in mind if you plan on purchasing more than one, and make sure that you have the right tools to install them yourself if you plan on self installation.
