Dining Room Remodeling

dining room remodelingDining room remodeling can be an enjoyable way to update your dining room and change the overall atmosphere. Usually old furniture and paint goes out of style and tends to look simply unattractive after time passes. Your best bet is to do a remodeling job, with an updated look. Whatever you are aiming for, there are some universal tips to get you going and to get your dining room looking the best that it can.

Changing your overall flooring can be a huge facelift to an otherwise worn out dining room. Going from tile to wood floors, or carpet to tile, or any combination of those is a great way to start. Flooring has the potential to make your room look bigger or smaller, more sophisticated, or more casual. Best of all, the change to a different floor system is simple, and only requires about a day of work for most dining room sizes.

A fresh coat of paint can make any washed over room look fresh and new again. White walls are usually boring, and add little to the atmosphere. Try adding a more daring yet elegant color, and see how amazing your dining room can look. If you are concerned about the environment, you can even choose low-chemical and low-odor paints, which are almost harmless and look natural yet refined and beautiful. Refinishing and glossing over furniture can also give your entire dining room a completely brand new look, at an extremely economical price. You can even texture your walls via sponge painting for added depth.

Upgrading to new decorations and furniture is a more costly remodeling option, but also one that may be necessary should you have broken furniture or some pieces that no longer interest you or fit your needs. Many styles of furniture can be found at discounted prices for a variety of options. More companies are also specializing in eco-friendly furniture to give your home a green facelift and make you feel better about the overall changes you are making.

Dining room remodeling jobs are fairly simple and little things that you do add up to a big change. For smaller jobs you can do it yourself with little experience, or for larger jobs you may want to hire a remodeling contractor.

Here’s a very personal, wonderful dining room remodeling idea!

I found something interesting I thought I would share. A way of displaying both photos and your family name in a very personalize way. There’s a website called AlphabetPIX where you can create a word or name using elegant black & white photos of architecture and nature. This is possible because the photos are shot in such a way that they also form the shape of a letter of the alphabet. After you type in your name on the homepage, the next page displays a frame with blank windows where your photos will go. You click on these one at a time for each letter in your name, and are given a number of photo letter choices from which to pick to fill your frame. The artwork can be designed entirely by you, online, in minutes. You can even see your final design on the website.
You really have to see it/design one to get how lovely/cool/personal this is.
Check out the concept here: http://www.alphabetpix.com

Here’s more information from the website,
AlphabetPIX – the hottest new idea in NAME/WORD ART. Unique personalized name art YOU CREATE with Photos That Look Like Letters – and in just 3 easy steps online. Create any name, word or saying you can think of with over 600+ stunning photos in BW & Sepia of architecture, nature and the world around us. Symbols, Numbers and Hearts are now available too.
Soooo personal and sooooo absolutely beautiful on the wall, a keepsake treasured for years to come.
Most people create their artwork with their last name in the frame, though the possibilities are endless—Words to inspire like “Believe, Love, Faith”, a wedding gift with the couple’s surname or “Forever”, a housewarming gift, a child’s name for their room or the family name hung over the fireplace—an heirloom loved for generations…

    Enjoy!

If you have wood floors and can’t afford to replace them, a great way to improve their looks is to refinish them. Also as you suggested, a new coat of paint on the walls will also make a dramatic difference.

I am actually remodeling my house right now and i’m going to paint the walls myself with the help of a video. I need to really think about what colors to choose.
