Ceiling Fan Direction
Fans usually are multi-directional. One of the first questions people ask is, which direction is forward on a ceiling fan? And then the second question is, which way should the fan go during the heating season?
We will cover both of these questions right now along with other home improvement tips in this article.
The forward direction blows air down on generally all fans. When you change the setting to reverse all the air is blown up instead of down. This can be especially useful in different seasons.
Obviously we all know that we want to be cooled when it is hot outside, and the forward option on the fan does that for us. If however during the cold season a person is trying to heat up the home, it is not a bad idea to put the ceiling fan in reverse to mix up the warm air.
Since hot air rises, the reverse function will help to mix and bring the air down to you at a temperature that is most pleasant.
This method is best for homes that have one level, but for homes that are 2 stories, it can actually be the opposite, since cool air sinks to the floor, running the fan in a blowing-up direction can keep cool air-conditioned air, which is coming out of the upstairs vents, upstairs where you would like it if that’s where most of the time is spent during the day. And then he opposite for warm air.
