There are several things you can do, and several combinations of things which can get rid of the ants and the hills.

One thing that some people have recommended is the use of vinegar. This is not going to work, and may cause more damage to your lawn than anything.

You can try using a garden hose on full power, and of course you will be able to drowned plenty of ants, but the Queen will continue to lay eggs and more ants will come back and build back the hills that were destroyed.

So here is another option, and this is how it works. Pour club soda directly into the mound. Since the carbon dioxide is heavier than air, it displaces the air and will cause most ants and many times the Queen to die. This not only serves one purpose but a second. You get rid of the ants and ant mounds in your yard and with no harmful effects to your grass or other habitat. In order for this method to be effective you should use approximately 1 bottle of club soda per 2 mounds.

If you don’t want to buy club soda you can always use the second option of either a borax based substance, or by pouring boiling water directly on the ant hills.

It is generally best to start with the largest mounds first and work your way down to the smaller ones. remember that a Queen ant can reproduce very fast, so you have a lot better chance of destroying them all by working the largest hills first.

Ants are hardy, and we can all learn something from how industrious they are as a team, so don’t always expect to completely eliminate them. They will always come back at some point.

If your pet has any fleas, it is most likely that there will be eggs and larva in your home as well. If you fail to treat your home for flea control, you will miss a large majority of a developing flea population.

Treating your carpet and bedding, plays a major role in home flea control. Wash all your bedding in hot water, or destroy any bedding that may seem beyond help. If it is possible, remove all clothing toys, and furniture to expose all your carpeting and rugs so that you may claim them as best as possible.

Simply vacuuming your carpet will help get rid of many of the eggs, Cuba, and larva that may be hiding in your carpet. Vacuum also helps to push pre-adult fleas out of their cocoons and thus making them more vulnerable to insecticides and poisons. After you have vacuumed your entire house, make sure to seal the vacuum bag and plastic, and dispose of it outside.

Once fleas have made your home their home, the most effective way to remove them is to use an insecticide. Some of the best flea control products combine chemicals like permethrin, with a growth regulator that will control the egg larva and pupa.

One of the biggest key aspects of good home flea control, is to stay after. You’ll continue to see evidence of fleas for a couple weeks after dinner treat your home, but do not worry. Continue to vacuum on a regular basis, and continue to treat your pets, especially if they are indoor pets. Remember it is hard work, but it will pay off in the long run.
