The first is through a radiant system, the second is through a forced air system. Both have their advantages and disadvantages as well as prefer ability throughout different areas and their heating and cooling needs. You can choose to use one of these systems or a dual fuel type which may be of use for certain applications in heating and cooling. Whatever you choose, the importance of having adequate climate control is always something to consider.

The radiant HVAC system is a simple concept. It uses a substance that allows heat or cold to disperse evenly throughout the building and create a generally well balanced temperature. This can be controlled by allowing different amounts of dispersal of heat or cold and takes a little bit longer than forced air systems but has longer lasting cooling and heating that can save energy over time compared to forced air. Radiant systems are easy to install and can be incorporated into most buildings without any real problems.

Forced air type HVAC systems are a little more complicated, but work rather efficiently. By using a powerful fan to force air through ducts and running the air through heated or cooled coils of material that quickly heat or cool the passing air. This is a very quick and nearly instant way to heat a building. This can usually be used in larger installations with greater efficiency when they are not in use all the time. Many people enjoy forced air HVAC systems as they are very fast at heating and can usually cool down simply by adjusting the temperature of the heating coils via control panel.

If these are too different in range of heating or cooling than needed, a dual fuel version can be installed that uses the best of both worlds. This allows the use of both types of heating and cooling but incorporates a thermostat that regulates the type of heating or cooling determined by outside temperature. When the temperature outside reads below 32 degrees, switching the system to gas powered heat or similarly, electric power to heat the coils for faster heating times and greater energy efficiency saves more money. When you need to cool, forced air can be used to cool the building then making use of radiant cooling methods to maintain a cooler climate is ideal.

There are a number of things that can affect the quality of the air inside your home. Using efficient air conditioner filters are going to be your primary defense in keeping the air inside your home of good quality.

AC filter replacement is a big part of maintaining your home on a monthly basis. If you or someone in your family has allergy problems, keeping your air conditioner filter clean and replaced when necessary can reduce the amount of allergies you have on any given day. Replacing your AC filter is inexpensive and only takes a few minutes to do, so getting yourself in the regular routine is a great habit to get started on.

There are some nice air filters on the market today that can allow your home to go up to three months without having to replace your air conditioner filter. Some of these filters include an electrostatic air filter, media air filter pads, pleated air filters, HEPA air filters, activated carbon air filters, and fiberglass panel filters. Each of these air filters plays their own part in helping to keep dirt, debris and dander at a minimum in your home. It is good to keep in mind that the smaller the particle that a filter can catch, will put more load on your air conditioning unit causing it not to run as efficiently as it can, therefore raising your monthly electric bill.

Keeping your window unit air conditioner filters clean is just as important as replacing your central A/C units filter. Window units do not usually have replaceable air filters. Newer window units now come with a filter that is washable and can be cleaned over and over again. Not only will air in your home be cleaner, but cleaning your air filter helps keep your ac coils and your internal components of your air conditioner clean. In the long run this will save you money, because your air conditioner will last longer, and run with less load saving on your electricity bill.

An optional way to heat the home is with a Geothermal heat pump. They are similar to the common heat pump except that they use the natural elements of the earth for heating, such as the ground or outside air.

The plus side of getting a Geothermal heat pump is the efficiency because of the use of the ground. It works by trading off heat with the ground through a with a ground heat exchanger system.

These systems also have the ability to cool your home and even provide hot water if they are equipped to handle that load. Geothermal heat pumps generally require less maintenance, and last a lot longer than common heat pumps.

When preparing to buy or have a Geothermal heat system installed there are several types of systems you may come across. Below we have defined what they are and how they work.

Closed Loop System – This is a ground heat exchange system which has heat transfer fluid permanently fixed into the system.

Open Loop System – A ground heat exchanger system that has heat transfer fluid works with a larger environment including surface water.

Direct Expansion -In this system, refrigerant circulates through the pipes underground rather than using a heat transfer fluid.

Studies have shown that 70% of the energy used by Geothermal heat pumps is renewable energy. While this may be the choice you have already decided on, you may be wondering what type of unit is best for your home.

This will much depend on the surroundings and space in your area. A horizontal closed ground loop is usually best for homes that have a decent amount of yard space, and a soil which can be dug up easily.

A vertical closed ground loop is usually best for homes with very little yard space, and where ground is rocky or difficult to dig into.

If you have a pond near by the most economical and efficient installation would be the closed pond loop. This allows for a more free movement of underground liquid for heating.

While all the previous mentioned were closed loop systems, you will want to check even further with a local builder and expert for what is commonly used in your area before choosing. But one thing is for sure, and that is that you will be investing in a system that will have a long and worthwhile lifespan for the heating and cooling of your home.

The air in your home alone will probably not provide the best environment for that. That’s why you can improve it with several types of humidifiers or vaporizers for babies.

The humidifier helps by moisturizing the air in the room. This makes it easier for the baby to breathe because the moisture prevents the nose and breathing passages from drying up.

Most parents ask themselves at some point what is actually better, a humidifier or a vaporizer? So to answer that lets look at what both do.

The humidifier sends cool mist into the air where as a vaporizer heats the water and sends a warm mist into the air. There has been some controversy over people feeling that vaporizers actually cause more congestion in the breathing passages, but this may be case by case. In most instances it also does the job.

However to be safer since humidifiers don’t need to heat water at all, they may be the best option for your baby. On the other hand, if you baby has asthma, the heated air can be beneficial since cool mist can be a breeding ground for bacteria. The heat from a vaporizer kills all that.

To help keep the best environment for your baby, it is best to use only mineral free water. Clean the humidifier and vaporizer weekly to prevent bacteria from becoming a problem, and don’t place the humidifier or vaporizer right next to your baby. this ensures there is no hazard of injury. Rather try to keep a distance of about 3-5 feet. This will ensure they still get the misting they need while keeping a safe distance.
