Whether you use your dishwasher all the time, or just once a month, the chances are, at some point it will need cleaning. Many people assume that because you can’t necessarily see the dirt inside a dishwasher that it does not need cleaning, but the truth is if left un cared for it can cause problems, and be potentially dangerous if your plates and bowls are not being cleaned properly. To safely dismantle a dishwasher follow the steps below. If you are unsure of any points always ask a friend or relative if you can.

You need to start by disconnecting your dishwasher from the mains, or if is directly connected, cut it off directly from your circuit breaker. If you do not disconnect it not only is there a large danger of electrocution, but you also run the risk of damaging the dishwasher.

Take the bottom storage rack out of your dishwasher. Some people like to take out the top rack as well to give them extra space to work in, but it is not needed to clean the dishwasher.

Usually the spray arm will be screwed on. If it is screwed on then unscrew it and it should promptly come out of place. If it is not screwed on, push it gently from side to side until it becomes loose. If it has no screws and pushing it from side to side does not appear to work, read your dishwasher manual rather than trying to force it, as you may end up breaking it.

Carefully remove the screen from below the spray arm. Removing this will grant you access into the main drainage system of the dishwasher.

Locate the pump housing, and remove this. This can be held on by many things, but it is usually screwed on so just use your screwdriver again to unscrew that. If there are no screws again consult your dishwasher manual or call the manufacturer to find out the exact details.

Remove all the internal parts you can see, including the upper impeller alongside with the food dispenser blade like piece. Anything else which can be taken out would be beneficial. Once you have taken all the parts out, prepare a solution in your sink, made from warm water and a little washing detergent. Leave them all to soak and then rinse the parts off. After taking them out of the solution and drying them, examine the parts for any old or worn parts. If you see any, try and get them replaced as soon as possible, as they could be affecting the cleaning performance by the dishwasher.

Rinse all the parts in cold water and dry them. Replace all the parts back into the machine, taking care to make sure you screw all the parts back firmly in to place.

If you notice a rattling noise after the cleaning, open the dishwasher back up and check that everything is screwed in correctly.

You can get the results you are looking for by simply applying a fresh coat of paint. Changing the color of your home will change the entire look of your home.

To choose the right color for your home you must first understand color in general. First there are three primary colors- red, blue, and yellow; all other colors are based on those three colors. Understanding primary base colors and the colors made with these will help you choose a color scheme that accentuates you home. There are four types of color schemes: complementary, monochromatic, triadic, and adjacent.

Complementary is simply two colors that are opposite to each other on the color wheel, when you combine these colors in a scheme it creates a drastic contrast. Monochromatic schemes are based on a single hue. You can use this single hue but with different variations such as dark, light, and anywhere in between. Triadic color schemes is a bit complicated and hard to conceptualize, using a professional is highly suggested. Basically there are two schemes of three tertiary colors, if you draw an equal triangle on the color wheel between three colors you have a triadic color scheme. Finally an Adjacent color scheme is using two colors that are right next to each other on the color wheel. This creates a harmonic color scheme, like blue, green, and blue-green.

The next time you are visiting a home improvement store take your time and take a look at the color wheels in the paint section. Choosing one of these schemes will create an attractive home color that will keep your home the envey of the neighborhood.

A Properly installed dryer vent plays a large role in keeping your energy costs low, while ensuring that you will have no fire hazards from a faulty dryer vent. A dryer vent that has no kinks, and allows premium airflow will ensure that your dryer is not having to work overtime to dry clothes.

This goes back to keeping your dryer filter clean. The lint screen or lint collector in your dryer should be cleaned after each load. If your lint collector becomes too dirty, often times the excess lint can be pushed through the screen and into your dryer vent. Not only will this clog your dryervent, but can become a fire hazard as well.

Dryer vent ventilation plays a much bigger role in effective energy costs than you would think. Making sure that you are installing a dryer vent properly will mean that it will have no kinks or bends, that it is smooth and allows free air movement.

Here are a few tips and suggestions to ensure that your dryer vent is installed correctly and venting air like it should. Dryer vent installation is somewhat easy, but it is important that it is done correctly, these are just a few tips to help ensure a safe dryer vent installation.

Avoid using a plastic dryer vent if possible. Investing in a aluminum dryer vent is less likely to cause a fire. True an aluminum dryer vent may cost a little bit more up front, but you’ll be adding a little peace of mind with your purchase.

Try to vent the dryer straight outside with as little bends and turns as possible. Do not go up if possible. If you must take your dryer vent hose upwards, it is important that you use a dryer vent booster. A dryer vent booster will help push the air and lint upwards and out the vent, helping to keep your dryer hose clean and clear.

A proper dryer venting system is crucial, if your home is not equipped with one, make sure that you get help on how to install it correctly, or have a professional do it for you.

Make sure to install the vent hose tightly to the dryer and the vent to avoid the hose coming off. If the hose comes off, chances are you will not notice for a while and you will be venting the dryer air directly into your home.

Once your dryer vent is installed, make sure to clean it regularly. Regular dryer vent cleaning goes along way for efficient clothes drying.

One final point, is to make sure that your dryer is not all the way against a wall. Each manufacturer gives guidelines for proper spacing between your dryer and the wall. This spacing can be found usually in the instruction manual, on the dryer vent kit, on the dryer itself or even online.

Determining what causes a washing machine to not drain can be a difficult task when you do not know what to do. There is a simple process of elimination that you can undergo to make sure that the problem is not merely a simple thing that you can fix on your own, thus requiring the extensive and sometimes expensive services of a repairman or an actual replacement washer.

The first thing to check on the washer is the drain hose that leads out of the washer. If there is a bend in it due to washer movement or simply a clog within the hosing, the water will simply not drain. Unbend the hosing or attempt to unclog the hose with the help of a second person to reduce water spills and possible damages to the floor and walls.

If the hosing is not the problem, then the next thing to check is the lid trigger switch. Sometimes it becomes loose or simply does not get depressed far enough by the lid to send the signal to start the draining process. To check this, you must open the lid and depress the switch with your finger or an object small enough to reach the trigger switch. If the machine starts the draining process then this may be the problem and appropriate steps towards fixing the switch should be made. This can be done by yourself if you have the knowledge to disassemble and reassemble the apparatus or by a qualified repair person. If this is not the problem, then the water pump may be damaged or malfunctioning.

Checking the water pump can be very difficult and may require manual emptying of the used water in the washer. This can be tedious and could damage the assembly if done incorrectly, but the problem could simply be a loose or broken pump belt or a clog within the pump due to excessive lint or other small objects that made it past the protected drain outlets. Replacing the belt can be as simple as removing the back panel of your machine and replacing the belt. Removing clogs may be unfeasible as it may require disassembling the pump itself.

Note that newer washing machines do not use pump belts but direct drive motors which could be damaged or have their control board dislocated from the machine. In this case, a repairman will have to replace the control board or do repairs to the motor. Worst case scenario will simply require you to buy a new machine all together.
