Asphalt Driveway Cost
Before we go straight into the cost of getting an asphalt driveway, lets look at the positives of having one. Asphalt is probably the most common type of surface in America. It is somewhat durable, easy to repair over and over again, and mostly resistant to cracking. It can easily withstand cracking because of being made from oil which allows for the elasticity of the asphalt with the change of temperatures.
It is not a probalem when it comes to cleaning since it is already dark in color. Dirt and grime are usually not as apparent on the surface.
Asphalt can also be reapplied over concrete or over already existing asphalt with no problem. Over years however the element of cracking does come into play, and the loss of elasticity will cause it to crack. This is why a seal coating is important.
Now down to the cost. What can you expect to spend adding an asphalt driveway to your home. Even though its quite a gap in price, you can look at spending anywhere from $1-$6 per square foot. With your money spent you can look at having a lasting driveway for the next 10-30 years depending on how well the work was done, and if regulat maintenance is applied every few years.
While Asphalt may not be your first choice, it definitely is one of the more affordable choices for what you get, and for the amount of life it can give you in a driveway.
