Decorating your homes exterior with alternative lighting can really make your home unique and allow you to save money in a world that is going green. Just because you are looking to light the outside of your home, doesnt mean that each light source has to have electricity running to it. Accent outside lighting is a great way to set up your yard when you have guest over, or just when you and the family are having a cookout at the house in the evening.

Temperary lighting that requires an extension cord to supply electricity, can lead to tripping hazards, and a lot of hassle setting them up and taking them down. Why not try some different, less typical styles of outside lighting. Some great ideas for accent lighting, is the use of candles. They set a nice easy going mood, and require little to no set up time. Candles can even double over as a method to repel unwanted bugs and misquitos. Candles work great when placed on tables, or when hung. The only real disadvantage to using candles is the burn factor, and the wind. They need to be protected from children and the wind.

Hanging lights are a great idea for alternative outdoor lighting. They are up off the ground and will not cause a tripping hazard. They can be left up permanently and used over and over. They also double over as a decorative accent, and come in many shapes and sizes.
